A delicious chocolate chip cake with a chocolate frosting on top. It’s more like a ganache or something on top of a donut but either way, it’s delicious! A dense moist buttery cake filled with chocolate chip morsels and topped with a chocolate frosting for a delectable treat. Pound cake is a classic of classic desserts. It wasn’t one my mom made too often but when she did it was never plain. I mean why make it plain when there are so many options of toppings and things to add into the cake. If she made it plain, we love adding strawberries and whipped cream to give it more of a strawberry shortcake feel. But I also loved the lemon. Lemon desserts are just my jam. Now, that I’m grown, it’s my turn to make them and those pound cake flavors just don’t excite my husband as it does me. He loves chocolate chip anything. Chocolate chip cookies are his thing. He’s a classic kinda guy. Well, today classic pound cake meets his love for chocolate chips for a fantastic dessert. I actually used this cake for my husband’s police-themed date night. Add some sprinkles to the top and it looks just like a doughnut. It doesn’t get much better than that! Did you see my ham-burglar bites?! Tasty little appetizer and then you get dessert! I love that bundt cakes can be brought to almost any party. They always look so elegant and never seem to disappoint. They display so well and can feed a crowd! Chocolate chip cookies are always a classic favorite so I know chocolate chip pound cake will become a favorite too! It reminds me of a chocolate chip muffin but adds some chocolate on top!… so delicious. Really you can leave the frosting off the top, but if you are a chocolate fan, I don’t recommend it! With the frosting, doesn’t it resemble another favorite?…. Maybe a chocolate glazed donut? Add some sprinkles and it makes everyone cheery! I’ll be giving you all the tips soon for having a police-themed party so stay tuned for that! This pound cake will last on the counter for 3-4 days sealed in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap. Putting it in the fridge will actually make it dry out faster so I don’t recommend doing this. However, you can freeze a pound cake. I recommend wrapping in plastic wrap, freezer paper, and tin foil. This cake is good in a freezer for up to 3 months. A moist dense buttery pound cake filled with chocolate chips and topped with a creamy chocolate frosting. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease bundt pan and set aside In a large bowl, cream softened butter, oil, granulated and brown sugar. Beat for 2-3 mins. Add in eggs one at a time and combine. Next, add in sour cream and vanilla extract. Set aside. In a small/medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt) Now, add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, add half at a time mixing thoroughly in between. Gently stir in chocolate chips. Pour into bundt pan and bake for 40-50 mins or until toothpick comes out clean. Need more delicious recipes? Go here Feel like spicing up date night?
