How stinkin’ cute are these candy canes? They are so easy to make and perfect for the little ones to help out with for Christmas. They will love all the colors and eating them too! This craft is perfect for working on colors, patterns, and fine motor skills. All you need is 2 items. Pipe cleaners and.. you guessed it. Fruit Loops cereal. You can decorate your Christmas tree with these Froot Loop candy canes and even make Froot Loop garland! Did you realize Fruit Loops are spelled Froot Loops? I totally didn’t realize until now! Froot Loops cereal was one of my favorite cereals as a kid. Ok, ok, it’s still a favorite now! It comes home every now and then as a special treat to relive my childhood. So when I was thinking of making candy canes, I knew these little loops had to be involved. So much more fun than dare I say Cheerios? Although the classic Cheerios work just as well. This Christmas craft is also so cheap to make. I spent maybe $5 on it all and you can make tons of candy canes. Teachers can use this craft in their classroom as well. I never knew how versatile cereal could be. I’m so excited to share some great ideas of using cereal for a variety of different educational and fun activities including some great freebies! Below are some of the ways you can use cereals like Froot Loops: These make for a great snack for kids to come home and enjoy. They can drop the cereal in a bowl with milk or they can eat it dry straight off the pipe cleaner. A box will give you the opportunity to make them every day during the Christmas season, but you can also use them for other crafts all year round, like the ones below! Don’t forget to download all the freebies for you and your little one! Have your child split all the froot loops into different colored bowls to practice learning concepts like same/different, color identification, and counting. Click here or click the picture below to download this free printable! Practicing math has never been more fun, especially when you can involve food. Bribery at its finest. 😉 Simple addition by rolling the dice and adding them up. Color identification with adding the proper amount of same-colored Froot Loops. Fine motor skills are targeted along with the same/different concepts. You can even ask about the smallest/largest, least/most, etc. Check out Tammy from Housing a Forest’s Rainbow Math Game here. Double “oo” Words Worksheet Let your child use their favorite cereal to complete words that have “oo” in them. This is perfect for those kids who are just starting to read. You can have them glue the Froot Loops on the page or just place them there to eat later. Once they have placed the cereal on all the words. Have them read each word for you. Simple, easy, yet fun! Click here or click the picture below to download this free printable! One of the best parts about Froot Loops is all the colors. It really gives you a variety of activities to do with colors. You can do this rainbow activity any time of year, but I like it best for talking about weather, colors or in March around St. Patrick’s Day. You can also incorporate counting in like the Rainbow Math Game link above from Tammy with Housing a Forest. If you were just like to make a rainbow using rainbow cereal, like above, check out Growing a Jeweled Rose for more details! https://www.craftymorning.com/fantastic-kids-crafts-using-cerea l/ Want some seasonal activities with Froot Loops?
