Mini “Getaway” In Your Own Home | An At Home Date Idea
This post may contain affiliate links, please read my full disclosure : here The perfect getaway in the comforts of your own home. Cheap date ideas to give you and your partner some quality time and a break from the norm. We all need a time away from the norm, but we can’t always think of anything to do or have the time to getaway and go on vacation. Here’s a fun at home date idea that’ll leave you and your partner refreshed but won’t break the bank. I’m always looking for new fun things to do with my husband. The variety helps fight the monotony of everyday life and keeps our relationship exciting. I always love surprising him and doing fun things for him. It makes me so excited to show how much I appreciate him and all he does for us. You don’t always need a special day like Valentine’s Day to make your spouse feel special. “Just Because” dates are my favorite, because most likely, your partner will reciprocate the favor. It’s great quality time together. So, let’s get to it. So just a quick tip before we get started on this date night idea at home. I used basically what I had around the house. If you do not have some of these things, don’t go out in buy it, there’s other things that will work just as well or even better! Our living room is not very big. It is an long rectangle that shares the space with the dining room. So, I flipped my ottoman to its side and used it to hold one side of the “fort.” The other side was held up by two chairs. (Some say it looks more like a canopy, which works too). Inside the canopy, the air mattress fit right in between and butted up to the couch and entertainment set. It was definitely a tight fit. A comforter was thrown on top to cover the fort. Since it butted up to the couch, I let it drape onto the couch and used Swiffers to prop it up higher sit didn’t droop too much. Finally, I added romantic light using an extension cord to connect the Christmas lights and just wrapped them to decorate. Food can really be anything you want. I suggest doing something that is not the norm since that is what this date promotes. Get something that you consider a treat or don’t always eat. Or you can pick a theme and go with it. For instance, if you wanted to make it like you were camping inside, cook hotdogs or hamburgers. Anything that is typical for a camp out will do! I loved Desire’s take on the camping theme. Ours was just more of a getaway with some our favorite: sushi. We don’t get it too often so it was a nice touch. Add in a bottle of wine if you choose! This is totally optional, especially if you are keeping it super low budget. Customize your date with a food theme! There’s tons of options depending on your preference. You can do fancy drinks recipes or you can just do popcorn and a movie. There’s always pizza coming in clutch or just dessert it up with delicious things like s’mores or better yet, my S’mores Whoopie Pies! Whatever you think your partner would love. With technology taking over the world these days, I thought it would be nice to put away the technology for a bit and just have some rich quality time together. So, I went a raided my mom’s old collection of games: Monopoly, Clue, Battleship. We talked a lot of smack… (I of course let him win all the games since it was all for him :P) Just remember: Don’t go out and buy a ton of games! At least one of your friends or family members are bound to have an assortment. Or even just a deck of cards can give you plenty games. You can go with a theme again here. If your theme is fishing, you can cook some fish, and play go fish! haha You can make the cutest tackle assortment snack box like this one! Or if you’re not as weird as me, doing popcorn and movies will do just fine! 🙂 I hope this help spark some creative at home date ideas. I can’t wait to see what you came up with! Send me your most creative forts, I’d love to see them.
