Cooking with a chef is a perfect date night idea for you and your partner to work together to make a delicious masterpiece. Cooking with a chef has always been on the bucket list, so what better way to complete it than adding to our 12 dates of the year. I decided on the New Orleans School of Cooking. To find a place in your area, just google “Cook with a chef (your city here).” I started purchasing gift certificates in advance so that it wasn’t a pretty penny all at once. I purchased gift certificates to also give us the flexibility of choosing a day that fits both of our schedules. The calendar shows you dates available and what food you will make with the chef. They change it up every now and then. We picked to make crawfish pies, veal des allemandes, bayou ratatouille, and pecan pie. It includes bread and butter, water, tea, lemonade, wine and Abita beer. They provide you with all the ingredients to make the meals, along with an apron and the recipe cards for you to make them over and over again at home. For the New Orleans School of Cooking, it only allows 10 people utilizing 5 cooktops, so it keeps the classes small for a more personalized experience. Here’s a few pictures of our amazing time. Think of us as “mini chefs.” Making sure our homemade whipped cream was whipped to perfection. Can you see my excitement? Viola! Our Meal! 1- I am super disappointed in myself that I did not take pictures of my pecan pie. 2- Come Hungry! At New Orleans School of Cooking, there was NO to-go boxes for any leftovers which meant you have to try and cram all the deliciousness in our big ole bellies. 3- You get to keep the apron. 🙂 4- Our experience was about $130/person ( which is why I did it before the holidays). This is one of our most expensive dates. There are other options which are less expensive. They have hands on demonstrations where you watch the chef prepare it as opposed to you making it yourself. Always be on the lookout for Groupons! They can be lifesavers for memorable experiences such as this one! Check out our next date in November. As the holidays are quickly approaching, this is the perfect date to combat the hectic holiday season. Share with friends!
