The rainy weather ruined your date night? Not a chance! Here are 15 rainy date ideas that are fantastic for making the most out of day with your spouse. All these rainy days have me feeling the blues. I love the sunshine, but lately, we haven’t seen a lick of it! This isn’t the first time that I spoke of the crazy weather we get in New Orleans. It definitely keeps us on our toes! We keep our cars packed with items we need for all 4 seasons, you know, in case New Orleans decided to do 3 seasons in 72 hours! It can really put a damper on all those late night plans you’ve made. That’s why I love having some fantastic at home dates in case we decide to not go out in the weather and a few dates to embrace the weather. 🙂 Always dream of taking a vacation, but never get to go because, you’re an adult and have responsibilities? Well now you can have that getaway right in the comforts of your own home! Surprise your partner with a fort in the living room or set up a tent and pretend camp in the spare bedroom! Cook things related to your things or have someone deliver for a night free of adult responsibilities and quality time with your spouse. Check out our experience here. You know all those projects you’ve been meaning to get to but haven’t? Well now’s your chance! My husband and I have purposely done this a few times just to get our schedules to coincide and make the projects happen! Go build that IKEA bookshelf or hang all those pictures you’ve wanted to hang! Just remember to do it together 🙂 Does one of you always cook in the family? Well, today’s the day to teach your partner how to cook! Bust out some wine, a little music and find your favorite recipe or cook something new together. Make some new memories together even if you burn it 😛 If both of you love to cook and can throw down in the kitchen, make it a little competition! ( haha! totally unintentional rhyme but it works!) First, decide who will make the dinner and who will make dessert. Go to the store, each of you grabs a basket and go shop for 5 ingredients. When you get home pass those ingredients off to your partner for them to use in their recipe! Quite a date night challenge but fun nonetheless! Make sure you pick out the ingredients you might like together because you have to eat whatever your partner cooks for you! Take a trip down memory lane. Go through old photos or your wedding album. Reminisce on old date night favorites. It’ll definitely give you all the feels for all the good memories you’ve made together. Planned to spend the whole day together but it started raining? Try this rainy date night challenge! Spend the whole day in bed together! You can only leave the bed for food, drink, and bathroom. You also should not be on your phone unless you are both looking at the same phone. The rest of time should be used for talking with your spouse, listening to music, binge watching movies or tv shows, cuddling and hugs, special hugs… extra special hugs. 🙂 You get where I’m going with this? ;P It’ll surely be a memorable date night! Bring on that friendly competitive edge and dust off all those board games you never get around to playing anymore! Make it an Olympic date night with multiple games. Include the Wii or other video games if you would like or strip poker! Raise the stakes before you start, make some fun wagers. If I win, I/you…. If you lose, you have to…. I surprised my husband a couple of times with this fun date night idea! The first time I choose to do breakfast on our living room floor. We don’t always get to have breakfast together, so I thought it would be fun to do. Sometimes a change from the norm makes the date night come to life and feel so special. Another time I tried my hand at making sushi and had a Japanese theme meal on the living room floor (pictured above). He loved it, mainly because I just took that extra step to make him feel special. Don’t worry if you don’t like sushi, you can do any sort of theme you’d prefer! Heck, I’m always down for pizza! Many local breweries provide tours and some even have restaurants connected as well. I know of at least 3 here in New Orleans that you can visit. Go learn about all the steps it takes to make a good beer, then taste test a few beers while have some dinner with your partner. A good night well spent. Who says you have to grow up? After all, you’re only as old as you feel! Go feel like a kid again with this cute date idea. Remember what your favorite activity was as a child and go do it! Bowling, laser tag, aquarium or try new fun places like trampoline parks! Tons of fun indoor activities that you can do with your partner. Search your city/town for all the museums in your area. You’d be surprised how many you have in your city that you’ve never visited. Chances are there will be at least one you haven’t visited or heard of before. Here in New Orleans, we have a Voodoo Museum, Pharmacy Museum, Southern Food and Beverage Museum, Children’s Museum, WWII Museum and more. Go check out all the history and culture of your city and then grab some food after for a delightful day with your partner. Looking for more of a quiet, laid back date night? Head over to your nearest bookstore and look around. Find a book to read together or different books. This is one of the cheapest dates you can do because you don’t have to buy any to sit and read. You can also visit your local library if you are avid readers and take a few books home. To honest, this has been on my husband and I’s list for a while! It’s just a little bit of a drive us so we have opted for closer venues. If you have a rock climbing place near you this would be a perfect date to get you and your partner to stay active in this rainy weather. If getting wet is part of the date idea, then here are two date ideas that embrace the rainy weather. This date idea is SO. MUCH. FUN! I surprised my husband with a photoshoot and then busted out some water guns for a good old fashioned water gunfight! I gave him the smaller gun to have an advantage and it backfired in my face… literally. But we have tons of laughs all around. This is a date we did with nice weather, but you can certainly go play water guns in the rain. After all, you’re already getting wet anyway, why not have fun with it! A simple, yet timeless date night. It’ll never get old on the romantic level of dancing with a loved one in the rain. You’re running to the car. You’re already soaking wet. Grab your partner’s hand, and just start dancing with them. Their heart will swell 10x bigger and thought of just being in the moment… together. Loved all these ideas, especially the easy ones to do at home, although I would not mind going out to a museum or even rock climbing, which we have never done! Thanks for the tips!
