Your favorite classic cookie with a swirl of salted caramel sauce. It is rich, gooey, decadent and full of chocolate and caramel deliciousness. Seriously, it feels so right the moment you take one bite into these dessert bars. These cookies are soft, chocolatey, with a creamy layer of caramel that can satisfy any sweet tooth. I have already made these multiple times because they are just THAT good. Silly me made these only two weeks before my husband’s birthday that when his birthday came back around, he requested them again. The swirls of salted caramel through these chocolate chip cookie bars make them so magical. Even though regular chocolate chip cookies are good by themselves, adding that caramel just makes it hard to go back! I love making the cookie bars just like my chocolate chip cookies: crispy edges with a soft gooey center. My dad loves it even less cooked to where they aren’t cookie bars anymore. He loves to scoop it out the casserole dish warm and add some ice cream for the ultimate dessert. I enjoy making my own caramel sauce, but if this isn’t your thing, or you’re in a rush, you can always use a store bought caramel sauce like this one! It’s creamy, dreamy and works as a great substitute. (although homemade is always better! 😛 ) Rich, gooey chocolate chip salted caramel bars are every dessert lover's dream. So simple to make and yet undeniably delicious. Two layers of your favorite chocolate chip cookie dough with salted caramel sauce in the middle. The perfect dessert to satisfy any sweet tooth! Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan and set aside. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and sugars together until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet. Stir in chocolate chips. Add 2/3 of the dough to the baking pan. Flattening down into the pan like a cookie cake. Pour caramel sauce on top or see salted caramel sauce recipe to make your own! Press the rest of the cookie dough on top. Sandwiching the caramel sauce in between. Bake for 25-30 or until edges are golden brown. (don't overcook as it will cook more in the pan as it cools.) Allow to cool and then you can cut and serve all gooey and delicious or you can refrigerate to allow caramel to set. Cut and serve in square bars. Enjoy! If you make your own caramel sauce, make sure you allow it to cool before adding it onto cookie dough. Need more delicious recipes? Go here Want to spice up date night? Go here Got the travel bug?
