A spiced holiday cocktail made in a crockpot! This crockpot mulled wine recipe is full of fruits, spices, wine and brandy. A warm delicious cocktail on a cold winter day! This recipe, my friends, comes with a warning. CONSUME WITH CAUTION. I’m up to some witchcraft here with this mulled wine recipe. There is something about this oh so delicious and almost weirdly addicting slow cooker mulled wine. I don’t know if it’s how the tart mixes with the sweet or all the spices like the cinnamon and cloves. Or maybe it’s just the wine and brandy shining through with, its ability to warm you from the inside out. Or maybe it’s just the magic of the season or all of it together, but it is very easy to drink. Contrary to the past 22 days of how I have represented myself on here, I really am not that much of a drinker, at least not in New Orleans terms. I like cocktails and wine but most often, I stop at one – or maybe two. Sometimes I don’t drink at all because I’m usually kind of lame. haha! (But occasionally, I’m in the mood to drink and number 3 just sounds like a great idea and if I get to four … well, oh boy. and oy. But this slow cooker mulled wine, for some reason, takes hold and compels me to keep sipping. And sipping. I’m not the only one! There have been others that have fallen victim to it as well. So proceed with caution or stay on your friend’s couch and apologize profusely the next morning. 🙂 A slow cooker might be a party host’s best friend in the kitchen, especially during the holidays. Our holiday parties were always filled with crockpots. A Crock-Pot filled with an irresistible warm-spiced drink makes it even easy to entertain. A fruity wine that’s not too sweet works best in this slow cooker mulled wine recipe. If you’re not sure, just sure start off with less sugar, tasting and adding more until you’ve hit the right balance of tart to sweet. Cheers! A spiced holiday cocktail made in a crockpot! This holiday mulled wine recipe is full of fruits, spices, wine and brandy. A warm delicious cocktail on a cold winter day! Add all ingredients to slow cooker. Stir to help sugar begin to dissolve. Cook on low for 2 – 3 hours, or until the berries are tender. You can cook it for an hour or two longer if you wish, but take care that it doesn’t boil. Taste and add additional sugar until it’s just sweet enough. Keep your Crock Pot on the “warm” setting to keep the wine nice and hot. If your Crock Pot doesn’t have a warm setting, try alternating between “low” and off. ** For fresh squeezed, you get about 2 ounces from each medium sized orange.** **Add more sugar and other spices to your desired preference to find the perfect balance of sweet to tart.
