This water gun photoshoot is a sure fire way to make you feel like a kid again! Although for us, it was just a cute couple photo ideas, it would be perfect for a any couple who is newly engaged or even married that love to have fun! They would make for funny engagement photos and memories to last a lifetime! (Make note: I won!) So to set the scene up, it was my husband’s birthday weekend (then boyfriend). At that time, we only had fancy cruise pictures to choose from, and so I was really excited to plan this session. He had no idea where he was going but once he knew it was a photo session, he got pretty excited (as previously he dabbled in photography previously) but he had no clue what was in store for him. I would have loved to save it for an fun engagement photo shoot but alas, we are a slow moving couple and I decided we needed some fun couple photos together now. I truly got lucky with a photographer. It just so happened that my godmother loves to take photos as more of a hobby than for monetary reasons. So she happily jumped at the occasion to do this for us and I can’t thank her enough. Since most photographers, it’s their full time job, I can understand the pricing and time limit. For me, I had no clue how long it would last, so this worked out so much better for me. If you are looking for a photographer to do a fun engagement photoshoot with you, I suggest shopping around. Look at the photographers different styles and find one that fits your vibe. Also, don’t be afraid to find friends and support their small business. They would love to help out and love the exposure! We decided to go to City Park in New Orleans because it is abundant with trees, bridges and gorgeous scenery. It also has Storyland, and the Botanical Gardens to explore as well. We first started in Storyland. There were tons of places to dip in and take a picture. But most importantly, to be a little kid and play again. (Obviously the slides were our favorite!) Then, we headed over to the Botanical Gardens for more serious pictures. (You know those cute couples photos. The kinds you would put on a Christmas card or Save the Date cards). Seriously, it is gorgeous there! Usually I only go in the winter around Christmas time when they do Christmas in the Oaks. They decorate the whole park in lights. Its truly a magical site, but it nice to see the gardens in the springtime with beautiful flowers, statues, and greenery. [This picture is from Storyland, but it was more of a serious picture, so I included it here]
Finally, we ended in the big open area of City Park by Morning Call (where they also sell beignets and coffee). We stopped at my godmother’s car to grab the tote of water guns. I was of course sneaky and put them all in a trash bag in a bucket so that he did not know what was in it. Finally, we left the real fun begin! I busted out the biggest water gun for me and gave him the tiny one, hoping to use it to my advantage. My plan backfired. It did not, I repeat DID NOT work in my favor. My gun of course, you had to pump at the same time as you fired it, so I couldn’t protect myself like you see him doing in the pictures. I also was surprised he would REALLY think I’d only give him a little squirt gun, but we got so into it and he didn’t even care. When the water guns were empty, I busted out a new surprise: his big water gun that he never used because he had so much fun with the small one! We wrestled over it and eventually spilled more on the ground than on each other. We had great laughs all around. We were soaking wet, but we had the BEST time. I can’t wait to think of a new one to do. I’m really going to have to up my game if/when we ever get engaged. HELP! Give me your ideas, I’d love to hear them! Any of these ideas will make for a fun couple photoshoot! I’d love to see your photos! Shoot me an email with all your fun ideas! Want to spice up date night? Go Here. Need delicious recipes?
